Warning! When you uninstall MC9
I just figued this out the hard way. I didn't have a need for the MC9 trial anymore, so I uninstalled it, but the right click menu options still stayed. This meant whenever I right clicked on something, it would come up with an error!! I thought it was unfixable, not so...
Go in regedit (start > run > regedit) and then search for 'j river', then hit delete when it finds an entry, then hit F3 and do it again. Theres about 30 odd registry entries that are in there after installing, and that fixed my problem quick smart.

I've had the same problem. Basically, the uninstall via the Window control panel option failed badly. Then Every time I tried to do pretty much anything interactive in windows (including just highlighting a shortcut on the desktop and pressing the delete key!), I'd get a dialog with a message like 'the program could not be loaded', then the windows ui would crash and restart. (Not reboot, but explorer.exe would shut down then restart)
A couple of things to add after trawling through the registry:
Also look for "Media Center", and "Media Jukebox" (no quotes). This last on seems a bit strange to me, but it DEFINATELY relates to Media Center - I just did a rebuild and have not installed MMJB.
Also, look for "mjextman.exe" in the registry. There are keys all over the place pointing to this file. I've also deleted this file from the \windows\system32 directory. There's probably other files around - be nice to know what...
ashawley, maybe your boys could bring out a version of drivercleaner (i think that's what it's called) to clean up when an uninstall fails? I can understand that they'd want to leave at least one key in there to stop users from simply reinstalling to get another trial period for free, but there was an aweful lot of crapola in there.
As always, ALWAYS back up your registry before taking the knife to it - things can go pearshaped pretty quickly...
google for "regedit context menu" and you'll find a heap of pages describing this sort of thing.
Hope this helps.
(Adam, you probably saved me from rebuilding windows, again. Cheers mate. 'Carn the wallibies)
