Cool, MusicMatch wants me to uninstall iTunes
I've received an e-mail from MusicMatch about incompatibility MusicMatch and iTunes and suggestions to uninstall iTunes. Guess what? I've uninstalled MusicMatch. It's a week of work to make any iPod uploaders compatible with new 1.72 iTunes DB format, so such e-mails surprised me. Another bad thing for MusicMatch that they sent e-mail too late, just imagine an angry user who lost entire collection after installation iTunes.

Well, MusicMatch sucks of course, but this particular problem is an iTunes bug. As much as I heard of iTunes it must be a bugdriven piece of sh*t (windows version) so i'd better go with a third party product for windows.

I happen to like MMJB...Since I have been a full time subscriber for 4 years now......When I got my iPod recently.....Didn't have any problems.....

No offense but as a new member here, I agree. It appears that many people simply make the obtuse comments such as ?MM sucks.? Can you explain to me sir; your technical findings that make you feel that MM sucks?
Here are my problems with MM:
Extremely slow synchronizations between MM and the IPod regardless of firewire card.
Inconsistency of synchronizations between MM and the IPod.
Complicated and buggy implementations of backing up the library within MM.
Horrendous technical support at MM.
These problems are definitely fixable and the benefits at this moment outweigh the negatives with regard to Music Match. Let?s hope that version 9 addresses these serious flaws.
At the moment, I am using iTunes with great suspicion. Apple has a way authorizing themselves as the legal arm of the RIAA also known as the Gestapo.

I also tried to subscribe to iTunes using MMJ and got the email warning from MMJ. A phone call to Apple yielded an ask me if I care attitude. So I uninstalled iTunes. I hope to find a place where I can buy singles that play in the iPod and make as many CDR copies as I want.

MM wont work for everybody. For me, it has worked like a charm, therefore I use it all the time.

Yes, I as well like MM. The problem is it could use an overhaul and a complete replacement of their technical support.

i would still be using mmjb if only they weren't missing a couple of the coolest features of the ipod: (1) the ability to rate the songs 1-5 stars, and (2) the ability to create 'smart' playlists that utilize how you rated the songs.
So I have a 'smart' playlist made that will just play all songs from the 'rock' genre that I've rated at least 4 stars. And since its 'smart', its cool how I can change ratings of songs and it will automatically add/delete songs from the playlist without ever having to hook up to a computer to edit.

Yes, MMJB needs to add the abilty to create "smart" playlists. However, MMJB does permit you to rate your songs. In fact this feature is even better than iTunes because it stores the "rating" in the MP3 tag, whereas iTunes stores it in a database created by iTunes. In MMJB, click on "Preference" to access this tag. You don't use "stars" like iTunes. Instead you give the song "Excellent", "Very Good", "Good" "Fair" "Poor" "Bad Taste".
The radio functon is far superior in MMJB than iTunes (CD quality. artists on-demand, etc), downloadable music library is larger, burning capabilities is far superior than iTunes (iTunes features are a joke when burning music to a CD), and MMJB is much more professional than iTunes when recording MP3s from an audio CD.
However, iTunes syncs your iPod much better and creates better play lists (smart playlists). So use iTunes to sync and for your playlists. Use MMJB for music downloads, radio, super tagging, ripping, and recording.

Well said!
I have been using good old Windows to change the tags. That is, the right click option on the MP3. And, I use Roxio for creating Audio CD's. Currently, iTunes needs a slight re-work to take the checkered flag.
It is almost as if the developers of iTunes expected all the users of iTunes to be idiots. That is, omitting much of the flexability that made MM great. However, I still think MM has some work to do. Slightly bloated and in need of a huge facelift!
