BPM in MC9
So anyway I've got it and all, but how do I analyse the MP3's and get the bpm in the tag, and does it do it automatically?
I tried a search for the question, but bpm is under 4 letters...

Hi Adam,
As I recall, you select the files, and under options/library tools (or something of the sort from the mouse menu) select 'analyze sound" - it'll do the replaygain/bpm at the same time.
Another option is to go to the smart list containing all the unanalyzed files, instead of going album by album.

Yup...easiest way is to go to the Task Auto-Smartlist, highlight all the songs, right-click and select Analyze Audio. Let it run overnight if your tunes are large.
Oh, and if you're missing iTunes...here's a skin (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~ashawley01/brushed_metal.mjp) for you. ;)

I have analyzed my whole library using MC9 and found a bunch of incorrect BPM counts. Overall it does a fair job but it's best to consult another source if you have doubts. I noticed this happens in a lot of breakbeat/jungle, new wave and some industrial tracks.
Not sure but I think it averages the BPM count over the whole track rather than use a DJs BPM count. I cross-checked a few DJ BPM sites for songs that I had doubts about and sure enough MC9 counts were off.
Case in point - Moby's "1000" track (The track builds to 1000 BPMs over about a minute or so. Look it up in Guiness Book for the world record) So, it should average over a few hundred BPM's right? Nope.
I think it is pretty good for most songs but if you have a bunch of techno related music you might want to look elsewhere for accuracy.
If anyone knows of a good source that would be very helpful.
