2 iPods, 1 EphPod
Yesterday I attached his iPod and opened EphPod to transfer some music. A few seconds into the 1st song the program froze. I could not cancel the transfer or exit the program as normal. My other programs were okay so it wasn't a Windows freeze.
Knowing what would happen if I shut down the computer I waited for an hour to see if EphPod would return and I could Exit and Save Changes. Alas, I was forced to shut down the entire PC.
As I suspected all the music on my friend's iPod was gone! Worse yet when we turned it on a Folder with an Exclamation Point appears, then the Apple logo and then nothing. I spent the entire day reading these forums and trying to Restore the iPod to the factory settings. Each time I would click on the Restore button I would get a message that said Firmware Update Failure/Disk Write Error.
I cannot believe that EphPod could cause such a problem. The iPod will not open to the Settings window or any window for that matter. It is virtually dead. I am going to send it back to Apple as he has an extended warranty but I would be interested to learn if using two iPods with one EphPod program isn't a good thing to do. I have lost all of my songs with EphPod at least five times since I began using this program. Once or twice thru my own ignorance but later as a result of things like this. It really is entirely too easy to wipe all your songs out with this program as much as I love it overall.
Anyone have some thoughts to pass on?
Jack
