disappearing playlist

Hello,

Im using 9.1.291

I upgraded from a earilier verson in hopes that my playlist doesnt disappear.

I only have one.. All music. I have reformated my ipod a number of times and reimported my library..but every 4 or 5th sync my playlist disappears..

Is this a bug ? Does anyone know how to fix?

There is a bug somewhere when either using the "All Music" auto-smartlist, or creating one on your own and naming it "All Music".

What I would do if I were you is create a new smartlist. Name it "iPod Tunes" or something like that. Add one rule to it: file type=MP3 and sync w/that one.

Also note, that if you reimported your library into MC9, you need to restore the iPod after you do that. If you've already done a restore since you've re-imported your music you should be fine.

Steve hasn't been able to duplicate this "All Music" smartlist bug. I can't either. Could you do him a favor, and email him your iTunesDB file? It's located on your iPod in ipod_control\iTunes

Steve's at Steve @ jriver.com (no spaces)--oh, he's the developer. Tell him you're getting the "All Music" playlist bug that Adam's always harping about. :D

just to let you know i created an additional smartlist tried to sync and that wont even show. Called it All-my-tunes

After that didnt work I unchecked All tunes default and made another called it test2 sync it..and still no luck

Plus is it usuall for your sync time to double when adding more playlist?

It took about 2 mintues with the all music sync..now its taking 5 minutes to sync the 2 new playlist as well

Senshine:

Once you get bit by this bug, you've got to rebuild the iPod database, then sync w/your own version of the All Music list. Make sure you uncheck the All Music version and just do your version.

To rebuild the iPod database, right-click the iPod and select Rebuild iPod database. Should take 5 minutes.

Also, the more playlists you add, the longer it takes to sync as the iPod's database needs to be populated for each playlist.

So, if you have 2 playlists, both w/the same rule (file type=mp3) it would take twice as long to sync as if you did it w/just one playlist.

That being said, this only applies when the songs have already been copied to the iPod. Make sense?
