How to transfer new files to musicmatch

so i have some new songs to transfer to musicmatch, and they are in another folder.

here are my questions:

1.can i add the songs from ANOTHER folder(other than my default music folder, and then when i transfer them to the default folder, will the tags stay, or will it say file not found?)

2.is there a way to put my songs in my default folder, and then have musicmatch recognize the ones that are new, and then update it?

3. when the ipod syncs, can it sync songs that are in other folders(from musicmatch, if i add them from other folders).

basically i have only added songs from my default folder. and i'd REALLY appreciate help!! THANK YOU!!!

1. yes. tags are in the mp3 itself so they stay with the mp3 no matter where it is.

2. yes. use 'add new songs' or 'watchfolder' feature

3. sure.

it doesn't really matter what folders mp3's are in. when you add songs from other folders, musicmatch will remember where it is. if you start moving songs around that musicmatch already has in its library and re-add them into the library, you will have duplicates. but that is easily fixed by right clicking on the library and selecting "repair broken links" just deleting all the dummy library listings.

can you please explain how the watch folder and add new songs features work(so i won't mess up while using it)?

ummm just do it... you can't mess anything up... the worst thing that can happen is having duplicate songs in your library that you can easily delete.

just go to file>watchfolders... or file>add new track(s) to library... and the window that comes up explains what to do right there on the top...

ok but about the transfering the mp3s from one folder to the default music folder, i've searched, and there doesn't seem to be any option that "detects" new songs, and adds them...is there any way to do this?

(important)also, for easier tagging, can i start up a NEW library(apart from my old one, and have my old one saved or safely preserved, and in this new library, i add the songs from the other folder and then rename the tags, then after that i just delete that library?

these two are intertwined, so help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

ummmm...watchfolders does this 'detect' for you. you list the folders you put music in and it will check those folders periodically for new songs. or if you don't want to wait, you can just click 'check watchfolders now' or use add new music.

this easier tagging proposal seems really over-complicated for no reason. if you're correcting tags why do you need to preserve the old ones? this really makes no sense what you're trying to do with this new and old library switching. you can always delete (without actually deleting files off your computer) the entire contents of mmjb library if you want to. and you can then manually or with another folder you identify as a 'watchfolder' add any song back into the mmjb library.

ok here's what i did:

i made a new library, for my new songs, i changed the tags, then i deleted that library.(this was done so that the tags would already be ready to transfer to ipod)

so now you're saying all i do is cut and paste the songs from the folder that i'm keeping them in to the default music folder, then click on watch folder for the default music folder, and it will add the new songs to the library right?

im sorry but my head is spinning.

1. what do you mean when you say you made a new library?
2. how does deleting the library make tags ready to transfer to ipod?

I have no idea what you're doing.

here's is how I manage mp3's with mmjb + ipod.

1. put cd in computer
2. using another program (not mmjb) record songs into c:/my music/artist name/album folder
3. turn on mmjb. go to file>add new tracks to music library. then i scroll to the album folder select the tracks and add them.
4. if the tags are not correct, i then on mmjb i select the tracks and hit 'tag' and edit the info.
5. I plug in the ipod to my computer. Then I hit 'send to portable device' and bring up the ipod.
6. I select all the new tracks in the music library and drag and drop them onto the ipod icon.
7. i eject the ipod. and im done.
