MP3 encoding speed on Ipod

Is there a way to display on the Ipod the encoded
speed of a file? Such as 32 KB or 128KB ..
Thanks

It's called the bitrate, not the speed. As far as I know, there is no way to display it.

Thanks for that clarification. I had that feature on my
antique RIO 500.. miss that bitrate feature!

Just curious, how do you use this information? I found it useless when I listen iPod. If I feel that some song sounds not good, I'm just thinking about reripping and can get bitrate infromation on my computer. From other side, iPod can't display comment, and it's bad for me, because I store lyrics in comment and would like to sing together with iPod.

I like to have that info on my display.
If I hear sound quality I just like to know the
bit rate. I have to admit with all the storage
the Ipod has, I can encode at fast rates and
still have room. With the RIO 500 and 128MB RAM
bitrates WERE an issue. Thanks for your reply.

With iTunes or Media Center 9 you can synchronize ratings between the PC and the iPod. I haven't used this for actually rating songs yet, but I find it a useful feature for flagging particular songs. A while a go I had a near-disaster on my hard drive and many of my files got corrupted, so I have a number of MP3's with strange artifacts (pops, squeels) in them, but the majority are okay. Using the ratings, when I hear a corrupted MP3 on the iPod I give it a rating of 1 star or if I hear a track that is okay but just doesn't sound so good, I give it a 2 star tag. This way back on my PC I can find the bad files easily for re-encoding. For the 2 star tracks I can check the bitrate and if I find that they were encoded a while ago with poor settings I can re-encode those as well.
