Problem: After Uploading Songs Arent Showing Up On IPOD

Hey Guys,
I am new here so bare with me. I have had my Ipod for about a year now though, it is the last model of it. Not the lastest one. Anyhow, just this week when I try to upload stuff it has stopped working. In MC9 it shows thats its been uploaded and on the Ipod, but then when I unplug the pod and try to listen to the songs none of them are on there. So I reformated the pod and downloaded all the new mc9 software. And now the problem is that I can upload a batch of songs once. Then no other songs after that intial upload will actually show up on the pod. Do any of you guys have any idea what could possibly be causing this? Also, my playlists won't show up at all. So if you guys could help me out I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Scott

When you have the iPod connected, right click the iPod in MC9 and hit I think it's initialize. This should do it. Then upload your music and playlists to your iPod. Are you trying to put all of your music on there or just some? Try to syncronize. Right click again and hit syncronize.

I have initialized it several times and I still have the problem. And I am just putting certain albums on becuase I have like 60 gigs of stuff and only the 20gig player. Do you guys know what else could be causing the problem? I dont know if this could matter at all, but when the message pops up I just want to overwirte duplicates right?

also, I have never been able to get playlists to show up on my ipod ever, I always just make a smartlist and right click and send to the ipod, yet only the songs would get sent, not the actual playlist file. anyone know why?
thanks so much,
Scott

Scott:

The best way to get your smart/playlists on really is to sync. Just click on the iPod Toolbar icon (you need to be using the 9.1 release, .269 or higher) and select your smartlists from there. That's the best way.

What I would do first though because it sounds like your database might be corrupted in some way, is to right-click the iPod and select "Rebuild iPod Database". Should take 10 minutes or so. Then, resync the way I outlined.

Many of us have iPod's that are smaller than our Libraries. Syncing w/smartlists is actually the best way to handle this situation. Check out Phil Lee's sticky at the top of this board on how he manages things. It's very good.
