Is it possible to sync with itunes for windows and itunes for mac simultaneously ? The apple web-site leads me to believe that I can use itunes for my home ibook to sync my 3rd gen ipod, then take it to work and upload to my work windows xp pc with itunes for windows.

However, when I tried to connect it at work (xp) with firewire or usb 2.0, it wanted to format my ipod hdd ... Is this possible, or just wishful thinking based on some carefully worded apple advertising !

Say you have a Mac or PC at home and another Mac or PC at school or work. You can update your iPod music collection from either computer. When you first connect iPod with your computer, iPod recognizes it as your primary computer. From then on, it automatically updates your music on iPod to match the music library on that computer. When you connect to a different Mac or PC, a dialog box asks if you want to link your iPod with this new iTunes Library, making it your new primary computer.
