Address Book vCard in Panther doesnt work right with 2nd Gen iPod with 1.3 firmw

Hello,
I am using a 2nd Gen 10GB iPod (firmware 1.3) with the new OS X 10.3 and for some reason, when I import all my contacts into vCards and transferred it to the iPod...the addresses in the contacts are not showing up in the iPod...
Anyone having similar issues?

Download firmware 1.3.1. Apple specifies it takes care of discrepencies with 2 gen iPods and Panther.

I thought that update was just an update to the installer (to 1.3.1) so that it will work under Panther (for the people who haven't update their firmware to version 1.3 yet)...thus it is not an actual update to the firmware (1.3).

Am I wrong in this?
