Auto Shut Off?
Hi,
Other devices I've used have an 'auto shut off' feature, so that battery power is conserved after a definable period of non-use. I haven't seen anything like that on my iPod. Am I missing it? Or is there no such animal in this box?
Thanks.

hi!
The ipod actually does automatically shut off after a few seconds when e.g. a song is paused or when no song is selected and the menu is displayed.
See this explanation of how the play/pause function works in the FAQs ( http://www.ipodlounge.com/faqs_more.php?id=1613_0_10_0_C)

Thanks. I actually was aware of all that, but the question remains. 'Sleep mode' is different than 'off', isn't it? Seems that battery power would be used during sleep, whereas it isn't when the box is 'off' (except the constant minimal drain that occurs over time).
Would be nice to have a user-definable shut-off time. Let's say you're playing with the iPod, not listening to anything, but cruising thru your collection, and you have to put the box down - phone call, or whatever. If you forget to turn it off, or can't get back to it as fast as you thought you would, won't 'sleep' drain the battery faster than if it turned off automatically?
