iTUNES on windows whats the big deal?! help! problems
i think it's ok but there's just a few things that annoy me abou it
number 1: on music match(suposibly inferior) if yo tried to put an mp3 on your iPOD that was already on there, musicmatch would automatically overlook it and skip it out. clever. i like that
However on iTUNES it allows you to put mp3's on there that you already have on the iPOD so you get copies. i suppose it's not that bad i mean i know whats on the iPOD so it's not gonna happen that often.
number 2: Now this is what REALLY annoys me i created a smart playlist a feature that i think is very innovative. i created one of songs that are all under 3 minutes ( i dunno why i just did!). so it came up with a list of say what 200 songs all of less than 3 minutes. Excellent.
i then dragged and dropped this playlist to my ipod only find when i look through the music library on the iPOD that all the songs on this playlist have been copied to the library, so songs that i already had in the library i now have anohter copy of the song thanks to this new "smart" playslist.
for example the pixies album doolittle, almost all the songs on it are under 3minutes so i now have 2 listings off each track uunder "doolitle"
oh yeah also when i try to play a music cd on iTUNES it completely freezes after 2 seconds off the track and crashes XP.
So why is iTUNES worshipped so much.
I'd be really grateful if anyone had solutions to my problems with iTUNES

I normally use iTunes in auto sync mode, that is it sync's my library to my iPod, and vice versa (in the event of rating / playcount changes on the iPod since last sync). I just switched over to manual and tried to duplicate a few songs, with no luck, it would not allow me to duplicate anything, playlist wise or song wise, when I tried it just sat there looking at me. I'm not sure why you are getting dupes...(do you have the latest version of itunes?) I can't get iTunes to let me duplicate anything.

i do have the latest version of iTUNES just the same. i might try the auto syncing with iPOD but the trouble is, i like to have the tagging perfect with my mp3's so until i get them all perfect i dont wanna sync it cos it'll download all my mp3's on the ipod without me wanting it to.

We have an entire board dedicated to iTunesFW.
POST TO THE CORRECT BOARDS PLEASE
Regarding your problems, they are most likely due to the the way you're using iTunes.
It will not upload duplicates if you import all your tunes into iTune and use sync.

If you use manual sync then you need to create the smart playlist in the iPod directly. Make sure it is selected when you do File - Create Smart Playlist
