Small Smart Playlist "Issue"
So, I'm starting to use the Smart Playlist feature with my iPod and it's fun...I'm using two lists for my commute to and from work...I set it up for no more than the time it takes me to drive and to select random songs, live update enabled...I'd like it to be able to give me different random songs every time I open my Pod with iTunes automatically, without having to reconfigure the playlist itself...is this possible?

Just add a "last played" > 1 day (or 2 weeks or whatever you want). This way, each time you play a song on the smartlist on your iPod, it will be removed when the song is played--and a new song will be added.

Does iTunes last played include data from when music is played on the iPod and on iTunes. Or, does iTunes only inlcude data when music is played on iTunes?

When you sync with your iPod, iTunes gets updated w/the last played data from the iPod. Same w/Rating changes and Playcounts.

You can also select all of the songs in the smart list and hit delete. It will give you all new random ones.
Its not automatic but pretty close.

Is this true for the 2nd gen iPod as well?
