Itunes cants read tag info from CD

I searched to see if other are having this problem... When I insert a CD Itunes can't read the tag info from most of my CDs. It works for a few but not most. MM seems to always get the info. I want to use AAC but this is a real pain. I have the same behavior on two different machines.. 2000SP4 and XPSP. Do I have something set incorrectly?

Strictly speaking the tag info isn't coming from the CD but from the online CDDB database. It shouldn't be working inconsistently - it could be that you have really obscure artists.

You didn't specify - why is AAC a pain?

It was a problem with the CDDB. I found a post about deleting the CDDB entry in the registry. Once I did that all worked well.

I am having the same problem - none of my CD tags are read in itunes, whereas they all are in MM. How can I do that thing with the CDDB registry? Please help, my fingers are sore from all the typing in of songs I am having to do!

There is a detailed post but I did not save it.. do a search on CDDB. You basically go into the registry and delete the CDDB key, it is under user_key/software/CDDB/2.0. Just delete this and restart iTunes. I still find that sometime it fails on the automatic lookup but if you manual perform the lookup in Itunes it works...
