Changing bitrate ..Is it possible?

Hi

I just finished ripping over 1000 songs from my cds AAC@128kbps. to my new 40gb ipod using itunes.

I didnt realize how much free HD(used only 4gb so far) space was gonna be left over and i figure I'll never fill the Harddrive.

Anyway, now im curious.I should have ripped all the songs at 320kbps which is the highest that is allowed in itunes.

I'd like to get the best quality sound to my Ety's ER-4P's.

Question:

Is it possible to change the bitrate to 320kbps to all the songs in my library without having to rip them all over again in itunes?

If not ...does mmjb have this option?

Thanks in advance for the help :D

Increasing the bitrate is possible, yes - but it won't increase the quality of your files. You will -at best- come out with 320k files which sound identical to your 128k ones; there's no way to restore the information from the CD, without ripping again. Sorry :-\

Samwise
OK.But if i delete all my library, start over and re-rip all the cds AAC@320kbps will they be of higher sound quality over the AAC@128kbps songs that i have now?

Thanks,

That's exactly right, yep. You can probably make things a little easier by -not- deleting the 128k tracks - iTunes should then be able to recognise that you're re-ripping the same CD, and will use the same tagging info etc. Also, that way you won't have to go without a library while you're re-ripping.

Good luck!

PS. 320k AAC should sound -seriously- good with your ER-4Ps.

320kbps surely would sound good but it's probably overkill. I'd try 192 or maybe 224 first. Might as well leave yourself SOME space! :)
