spyware?

Noticed today that my PC has two new services I haven't noticed before: C-Dilla and GEARSecurity.

The GEARSecurity seems to be required by iTunes in order to import or burn CDs, so it is apparent where this one came from.

More worried about C-Dilla, because iTunes seems to run with C-Dilla disabled (haven't tried purchasing from the store yet with it disabled).

Other than iTunes I can't remember installing any new software in the past several weeks and I'm pretty paranoid about this stuff usually. Well, iTunes and all the iPod software is all I have installed.

Annoyingly, neither Ad-Aware nor SpyBot (both with latest definitions) reports the C-Dilla service as a problem. :(

Any ideas? Is iTunes spyware?

I haven't got C-Dilla ever, and I have iTunes so its from somebody else, nuke it. As for GEARsec, unless you want to import CD's in iTunes, nuke that too.

Then there's also the iTunes helper file on startup and the iPod service file, or something like that, which aren't really nessessary unless you want auto launching of iTunes, which I think is just annoying.

Thanks for the info. I discovered that C-Dilla came from my brother installing some MechWarrior game so I got that all cleaned up.
