Possible to maintain a playlist thats synched between the library and the iPod?
Is it possible to create a playlist (either smart or simple) and have it always synched between the iTunes Library and my iPod?
I'd like, for instance, to have playlist of tracks that I've added in the last week, and have created a smart playlist on my iPod that does this. But in order to have this functionality in iTunes (say, when my iPod isn't attached) I seem to need to create an identical playlist in the Library. This seems like unnecessary work, and it also clutters up the tree in iTunes. Is there a way to avoid this?

If you create the playlist in iTunes and have your syncing prefs set to either 'automatically update all...' or 'automatically update selected...' with the choosen playlist checked, then it will add that playlist and sync in the future with the iPod.

yeah if you do the auto-sync then you only have one set of playlists (and they are shared between both) - if you choose to manually manage, you have to create the same list in both places. I personally find the auto-sync to be very good

Ok, but I don't want to turn on auto-sync until I can get my *.M3U playlists imported, and the duplication bug with those is preventing me. Otherwise I'll lose these playlists which are currently stored on my iPod. Thanks for your replies!
