unlock the ipod?
There is a little "lock" icon on the bottom of the itunes screen. How can I unlock the iPod?

in itunes it wont let me add music files to the ipod or delete the songs.

Click the iPod options button (lower right) and change it to Manually Update the iPod.THis means that you've chosen not to let iTunes manage the contents of the iPod (sync) based on Playlists or the full contents of the iTunes library.
