CDDB CD info

I just got my iPod 20GB tonight (it is great by the way :) ). When I went to rip a CD and used the get CD track names option (Advanced - Get CD Tack Names) a dialog box pops up and it says processing for a split second and then goes away and does nothing else. I went to the CDDB website and the CD I was trying to get the track names for was in the database. I have DSL and am running through a Linksys router. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
kjlester

Some more info: I also installed a windows certified PCI firewire card in my computer. Wondering if that has something to do with this problem. I also installed Music Match and it cannot connect to the internet either.

I will assume your other internet functions are working normally?

Have you tried again. I have never had this problem, so not sure that I can help you. But make sure all of you internet preferences are set and working well. Could it be a firewall issue?

Yeah that is the weird part. My IE connects to the internet fine, AIM works, Yahoo IM works. iTUnes (it wont connect to the music store either) and Musicmatch don't see the internet though. I tried rebooting and changing settings within both programs and no-go.

I was thinking that it may be an issue with my Linksys hardware firewall. I was going to try to change some of its settings tonight but I have read that other people have routers and seem to be having no problems.

Try setting up your computer in the DMZ and then setting up a software firewall... I run behind a linksys router and that is my setup.

Been having the same problems here; Windows Media Player seems to access the CDDB fine, though. I've tried both enabling and disabling the WinXP personal firewall, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. The fact that I'm behind a University firewall could be what's causing it, though...

Last night I tried hooking directly to the DSL modem without the Linksys. So, there should have been no firewall (i have no software firewall installed). The same thing occured as before where it told me to check my internet connection and try again. Media Player does see the CDDB just fine. I guess worst case I could get a MP3 encoder plugin for that, but I would like to get iTUnes working.

I just saw this:

Wondering if this is the same issue? I guess I could give it a try when I get home.
