Moving iTunes Settings to New Computer
I used iTunes with my iPod and autosyncing for a week and a half on my old laptop, before the screen went haywire, etc. So then I bought a new laptop, which I would like to use with the iPod. My question is whether there is some way to move my iTunes settings like playcounts and smartlists over to the new one. I have already manually moved my files over by copying the iPod's directories to the new computer and including them in the iTunes library. Any ideas?

# 1 Re: Moving iTunes Settings to New Computer
I have just tested this and it IS POSSIBLE!
I have a folder for my mp3s on my main PC called D:\mp3s that contains all the songs in my library. I copied this folder to another computer on my network and the new directory on that PC is also D:\mp3s. My first PC has the library and all the song ratings, so then I went here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
and copied these files:
iTunes 4 Music Library.itl
iTunes 4 Music Library.xml
to the same folder on the 2nd PC on my network after renaming the original library files on my 2nd PC just in case something went wrong. BAM, the entire library and all the ratings are there. The only thing that I haven't tested and could present a potential problem is copying your library folder to a location on another PC that's not in the same directory as the location of the library on the original PC. Try at your own risk, but this has worked for me.
