Found a workaround for this...spend the last 3 days trying to get iTunes to work with CDDB again...read a few other posts, tried some stuff and got it going again...
1. Create a new user on PC
2. Log on as this user
3. Run iTunes, it will ask the basics...skip as much as you can now, ie, don't search for music or anything.
4. Quit iTunes
5. Run REGEDIT
6. Export the branch...HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CDDB
7. Log off and back on as you normal user
8. Import this reg file back into your user in Regedit
For me, this cured the problem. I am running several connections and obviously its stored somewhere some proxy or other settings...this has got around it for me until Apple sorts it.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers

wallisj,
umm...tried doing that ...the new user didnt have a branch under current user/software/cddb...wuts the data supposed to be...and maybe we culd just edit it...

After i had run iTunes i did do a CD lookup with it, so that might be what triggers the CDDB registry entries...try doing that...the info within that key in the registry is not repeatable, its just a bunch of seemingly random charaters, but it did the trick for me.
Good Luck

i'm in the process of packin to move so i dont have of my cds around...but if thats your situation...then i shouldnt even have a cddb registry entry cuz i've never done a look up before using my current user account since all my music has already been tagged(however i do have that cddb registry entry...)
