Using Mac iPod with windows iTunes?
According to Apple, this is not possible. But I was curious if anyone has found a way to have a Mac iPod show up in windows iTunes. Windows iTunes recognizes that there is an iPod plugged in but has no software to run it. Any ideas?
I have a Mac 5gb iPod and would like to be able to use it on my PC without aving to buy a windows iPod. Of course this is probably impossible, but I am still curious.

Well, you can just convert your MiPod to a WiPod. Is there a reason you don't want to do that?

I didnt want to just convert it. All my music is on my Mac, it has a larger hard drive. I was just curious if it was even possible to have it be cross platform.

Yeah, now that I have an iPod, if I decide to get a G5 now, can I convert my Win-iPod to a Mac-iPod, not a continual flip-flop across platforms but one big one-time switch?

I have reformatted MY 10G ipod foir windows, and BOTH of my macs play nicely with it. One (at home) running OS9 and one (at work) running OSX.
My PIII pc works great with it too!
One question tho, if iTunes isn't running, how DO you eject your ipod under windows?

You can use your Mac iPod with iTunes for Windows after you stop iTunesHelper.exe from running by either killing the process in Task Manager, running msconfig and disabling iTunes from running on startup or by deleting the iTunesHelper.exe run key from the registry. As far as I know, stopping it from running doesn't interrupt functionality.
Or you could just use a third-party software such as EphPod or XPlay which will read Mac iPods on Windows.
