Ripping CDs
Is this functionality actually included in the Windows version? I followed all the advice in the help file but my version just doesn't show the songs. I have the "On CD Insert" setting set to "Show Songs" but nothing appears and I can't import the right file type doesn't exist.
Its a legal CD, Bon Jovi - Crush and the file type is .cda (from Win Explorer).
Any ideas why its not working?

Make sure you have auto insert notification turned on in your operating system. As a test, close itunes, put your cd in the drive and then close the drive and wait and see what happens. Does a program launch or do you get a menu asking what you want to do (play with media player, etc...)? This applies to Windows XP...what OS are you using?

I'm having the same issue. Any advice would be appreciated.
Once I put in the CD, XP asks what I want to do, I choose Play with iTunes . . . . and nothing happens.
I've tried opening in explorer and dragging over . . .nothing.

This is a problem that many windows users (including myself) are having. There are several posts about it both here and on the apple discussion boards and although I've tried every suggestion that people have given, it's still not working for me (itunes knows there's a CD there but won't put it into the source (left) side of the window). I believe lots of us are just going to have to wait for a patch from apple that will fix this major bug.

In my case iTunes simple couldn't recognize CD drive, although it could eject disk. I tried an external USB connected drive, and ripping became working. One more thing, I use laptop and XP pro. I think we should file a bug to Apple. I undertand that Apple guys did a big work to support devices in a different than Mac architecture, so some issues are expected.

Here is a link to a MSFT knowledge base article that is pretty helpful. Also note that when you reenable autoplay you may need to reboot your machine to have it take effect.
