Itunes is intercepting commands...

I have a logitech keyboard with media control buttons, it seems that even when the logitech Itouch software is not runing Itunes will repond to the Previous, Next, Play/Pause, Stop, Mute, and the volume wheel. This is supremly anoying. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know anything about that keyboard or software BUT I have a kennsington mouse and the functions of the extra buttons are sometimes screwy with some software.

With the kennsington software I can select the problem software and set the extra mouse controls not to work in that software.

Maybe you can set the media control buttons not to work in iTunes...

All MS operating systems (XP,2000 and even 98) have built in support for "multimedia" keyboards and multi-button mice. Even if you don't install the actual drivers, this support is still there. That is why you can plug in any keyboard or mouse and it will work. Usually, by installing extra drivers, all that gives you is the ability to program extra keys or assign your own functions. You can write an application that will take advantage of the built in support the operating systems offer and that is what itunes does. As an example, I have a Logitech Mx700 wireless mouse but I don't have the Logitech drivers installed. I can use the Forward and Back buttons to advance or move back in my track list...very convenient for me!

Hi!

I'm having the very same issues with my Logitech iTouch Keyboard (called "corded internet keyboard"). It has some multimedia keys which work just fine with winamp for example. (play/pause, stop, skip..) Somehow itunes won't recognize those commands. Also I don't see any possibility to configure this with the iTouch software.

Another commands related feature I am missing is remote control support. I was using WinLirc before for example - very comfortable!

In my opinion it's just the lack of plugins for itunes, or better: the lack of using any plugins in itunes at all.

Too bad, cos besides this itunes is a great piece of software, best mp3-library/player I've ever used. :(

The coustomizability is in the players.ini file, however all of the fixes ive seen do not work... if you look on the logitech forums you will see there are quite a few messages about this there as well. I hope the get this sorted out as well as the volume issue soon.

If I use the multimedia keys on my Microsoft keyboard whilst iTunes is playing but not in focus it opens the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Keyboard :D

Playback stutters for a second and then the command is obeyed as well.

That's if I press play/pause. If I use the skip track button when it's not in focus it chooses a track at random.
