Ill wait for now
I'm glad that I was at work when itunes was released. I downloaded it on my office computer and played around with it and was somewhat pleased, but hearing all of the problems and non-support for my classic ipod, I'll just keep what I have until, "hell freezes over" for support for the classic ipods.

Non support meaning that all of the things that the new ipods can do, such as on the go playlists have not and will never be offered to the 1st and 2nd gen ipods. But I must confess I did relent and installed it when I got home. I just do not like how it arranges my music on my ipod. So I use ephpod to transfer, but recently I stated getting lock-ups with it. And for some strange reason some of my cd's that I ripped as 128 aac, ephpod shows them as being 16? But when I look at them in itunes it shows 128? So I don't know that if it is a problem with itunes or with ephpod.

I understand your frustration with the lack of updates to the older models but to be honest if you had decided not install iTunes on your home machine because of this I think you would depriving yourself further of what Apple offers to customers.
The lack of OTG playlists on 1st/2nd Gens is not due to iTunes but rather Apple's desire to sell more 3rd Gens.
Glad to hear you relented and gave iTunes a go. Its not perfect but its a good start.

Question: iTunes doesn't (and can't) change the way music gets organized on your iPod. There's only one way to organize tunes on the iPod--based on tags.
Are you sure your tags are correct?
