iTunes problems!
EDIT: started over today and everything installed properly. Files imported properly. And thanks to MarkP99 with his advice below concering Total Recorder, playback issue is now fixed also.
Now she's singing like a bird!
Woo Woo!
_____________
1) Crashed during the installation when importing files.
2) Then crashed three times trying to manually import the files.
discovered on the second and third attempt that it crashed on the same MP3 file so removed this file. Restarted computer between each crash.
3) finally, on fourth time, everything imorted.
4) attempt to play files and nothing but garbled noise.

You're ignored, weirdo.

Tell me if it doesn't work then. lol

Nope, not stalking. Just reading through the threads in the new forum this afternoon, and noticed the same post in two different threads.
# 5 Re: iTunes problems!
Better to be a post stalker than to be a spamming troll who makes redundant posts containing useless information, I guess.

It's useless?
Listen, I can't help it all you hicks in fly-over-states buy your operating systems at Wal-Mart (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=1957320&cat=3954&type=22&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3951%3A3954) and then expect things to be perfect.
It's a proven fact that reinstalling Windows will clear up 99% of the problems. But you've never worked in the industry (retail doesn't count, tech support doesn't either), have you?
Another hick ignored.

Wow, you're on a roll today. Since you work in the industry, and I'm in awe of your amazing technical prowess, and you don't live in the midwest, so I'm in awe of your astonishing coolness, and you're very amusing, I won't ignore you.

God, get a life. Fighting via a keyboard. Loser.
# 9 Re: iTunes problems!

Well, since he won't see what I'm saying anyway, here goes:
Bracken is a cool, sophisticated, technology-embracing, hip God. I wish I was just like him.
BTW, sorry your thread got hijacked by this nonsense. I'm done now. I wish I really did have a useful answer to your original question, but I don't work "in the industry." Maybe you should re-install Windows. I understand that solves 99% of all problems that could be otherwise solved with a much, much simpler solution.
# 11 Re: iTunes problems!
Yep major problems for me also... iTunes now refuses to load because it corrupted its own database...
So braken you are right, need to reinstall. But since the other windows and 3rd party application I run all work flawlessly. I think I will leave Windows alone and try to reinstall this ####ty apple sowftware.
btw I work in the industry as if that matters

Well you're not ignoring me bracken, so do please take it down a notch. This is not the type of board where we tolerate such comments as "loser", "weirdo", "hick" etc.
You are more than happy to take that elsewhere...we don't want it here.

# 13 Re: iTunes problems!
The reason that those "in the industry" generally would reccommend just re-installing Windows is frankly just bloody laziness! (or the fact the charge such extortionate hourly rates and don't care about the data that needs help)
It's like when God decided to just flood the world instead of giving everyone a helping hand...

# 14 Re: iTunes problems!
if the next couple of posts are not about itunes for windows problems or problem fixes, this thread is getting locked. please do try to stay on topic and keeping the spam down. obviously you realise that there is going to be a thread explosion in this forum since the release of itunes for windows. let?s try to discuss the topics in such a way, others will be able to follow. thanks.

parannoya
post some stuff about your PC, what kind it is and such and we will see. My bet, is it is a conflict that results from MMJB.

SOLVED!!! (at least for my system)
The culprit for me was Total Recorder. TR inserted itself as the "Default Playback Device". I simply reset this to be my Soundcaard:
ControlPanel > Sound&Audio > Audio > SoundPlayBack > DefaultDevice
Select your SOUNDCARD, not TotalRecorder!!
This means that TR cannot record iTune Radio streams (rutt rohhh ...I hope MMJB doesn't catch wind of this... )
Good Luck!!

Bracken,
Thanks for the kind words. I live downtown in a major East Coast metro area, so I don't know how much of a 'hick' I am, but I'll wear that label if it helps you cope with your ignorance. I've also been developing media content (on- and offline) since you were probably still in elementary school, so you can spare me the condescending remarks, but please continue to act so abusively; it makes identifying your personality type so much more simple.
Telling someone to reformat and reinstall their entire OS to solve a software bug is an incredibly short-sighted and lazy way to deal with a problem. Will it work? Sure. Will it cause more headaches trying to recover lost data and apps? Probably. Some of us would prefer to not turn our PCs into iTunes workstations as a solution to a software bug; rather we expect the "best Windows app ever made" to function properly in the OS it was written for. Suggesting an OS re-install is the hallmark of a lazy IT tech who refuses to try to get to the real root of the issue--do you work for Dell or Gateway, by any chance? :)
To the mods, my apologies for stirring the pot. These forums are among the kindest and most informative discussions I've seen on the web, and they're the best resource for iPod owners on the planet. Special thanks to markp99 for posting a feasible solution to this problem without losing his temper or making banal remarks based on ridiculous and ignorant assumptions.

# 18 Re: iTunes problems!
bozack, while we?re greatful for your praise, why do you stir the pot and make this forum more like the other ones you dislike? don?t answer. i?ll let it pass this time, since you weren?t the initial aggressor. to all: let?s keep the discussions on topic please. i?m sure you (bozack) have a lot of interesting things to share, so let?s all work together on making the ipod experience (with or without itunes) more enjoyable for everyone. thanks. :)

# 19 Re: iTunes problems!
well done apple - this software is JUNK!
I cannot import a SINGLE MP? from my library into iTunes as it crashes!
Its down to the ID3 tags I am sure, I very foolishly grabbed my mp3s without any ID3 tags (I know I know... NOW!).
I have renamed all my ID3 tags by hand and they work fine in music match AND WMP - but iTunes crashes again and again...
I now have the only option of re-grabbing all 150 of my cds in iTunes and getting the tagging right this time or just putting up with Music Match which I really dont rate!
AHHH! Why is does anything with the name APPLE on it crash all the time - and this comes from a PC and MAC user so I am not biased.
Anyone help!?!
# 20 Re: iTunes problems!
Todd, Mark, thanks for the suggestions.
I will check out the Total Recorder thing. I do have TR so maybe thats the conflict.
I have used MMJB, Ephpod, XPlay, AudibleManager and now MC9 on this system and never had a problem. All of them except MC9 and AudibleManager have been removed, (thank god in the case of MMJB).
I'll give it another shot this weekend.
Thanks again.

If you are interested in giving this software a shot, then pick your 10-20 favorite cds and import. Set the prefs to 'automatically organize...' and copy files to itunes music folder'. Basically, start fresh with it. Try some playlists and some iPod syncing. I would guess that it will work a lot better with a fresh start. If it doesn't and you're fed up, then go back to your previous way.
I'm a huge iTunes fan and admittedly quite biased but I think its worth a shot.
With 'only' 150 cds, its a great time to re-import. I know people [myself included] who re-ripped much larger collections...

You da' man. That was exactly it. My sound settings were playing back through TR. I changed that and now its singing.
Thanks!
