Does iTunes replace Ephpod as a synch device?
With the roll out of iTunes, I'm just trying to figure out what it replaces...
We got the iPod Manager, updater, MMJB, and MMJB plug in on the cd that the iPod shipped with. Now with the intro of iTunes for windows, does it replace all those programs, or is it essentially a MMJB replacement?
On another note... I have 1600+ mp3's. If I use iTunes (for the features, not to d/l new mp3's), do the device transfer rules apply? Can I use iTunes as a jukebox, or does all the mp3's need to be registered applying all the rules?

I'm going to be careful about using iTunes instead of Ephpod, because I like to move files back and forth, and iTunes (AFAIK) can only moves music TO the iPod. So once your music is on the iPod, you have to leave it on there or delete it, unless you use another utility to copy it somewhere else.

Would iPod manager and updater still be necessary?

I don't know that iPod Manager was ever necessary. I immediately uninstalled it. I don't think it serves a useful function.
Updater I don't know about.

The updater is only needed if you want to restore the iPod. It never runs unless you launch it, so it's a good idea to keep it.
Also, there's a new version (2.1) (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download) of the firmware out, so you might as well get it.
It will probably include the iPod Manager which will now serve to auto-launch iTunes most likely.

2.1 is only valid for the NEW ipods with docking cradles. Older pudgy ipods are at 1.3. Oops is 'pudgy' a derogatory ?

Question about this... how do you 'unmount' the iPod w/o the iPod manager software? When I installed iTunes it automatically uninstalled iPod Manager, which is fine b/c iTunes can 'unmount' the iPod for you. Since I uninstalled iTunes (I'm not sure I like it), I had to reinstall iPod Manager in order to 'unmount' the iPod. FYI... I'm also running MMJB 8.1 and EphPod.
Thanks in advance...

To unmount, just right-click on your Ipod drive and select "eject".
