iskin exo Vs. Speck skin

What one is the best. I like how the bottom of the speck is hinged and can easily be docked.

I have the Speck skin, and am very pleased with it, although it appears that I'm in the minority on this one.

Many people complain that the fit is poor for either model of iPod but on MY 15gb at least, the fit seems more than adequate. Even moreso when I put an iShade on it to keep from scratching the lcd.

I don't own an exo yet, but as soon as the exo2 cases are available I plan to purchase one. The exo2 case has the clear advantage of more coverage, even though it lacks the docking flap. This, in my mind, is a fine trade off and one I'm willing to plunk down some cash for. The extra protection was a REALLY smart move on Lajo's part.

However in my opinion. the regular exo for gen3 iPods has it's pros and cons in comparison with the Speck case.

Pros:
Many colors to choose from
Supposedly better fit
iShades that were made for it
Belt clip
Zip case

Cons:
Can't dock while in case
A bit more expensive
Little access to the hold button

If docking without having to pull the skin around is a BIG priority for you, I'd say go with the Speck. My iPod goes in and out of it's dock many times a day, and it's more convenient to just lift the flap out of the way than wrestle with the case and pull it out of shape.

But if color choice, slightly higher quality and fit, plus accessories win out over your need for easiest dockability, go with the exo.

If only Lajo could create an alternative dock cover to fit the exo... than I'd switch without a second thought. As it is, his exo2 design is well worth the extra trouble over the docking issue... but if there was a way to dock the regular exos as well as the exo2s without having to remove the skin partially, or take off the dock cover, I'd buy TONS of them in a second.

What can I say, I have an eye for colorful iPods. :D

prototypechild has it largely correct in terms of the pros and cons of the exo. As an owner of both the speck and the exo for my 30GB 3G, I'll add that the iShades fit the Speck cases as well. Also, the exo belt clip has gotten lots of negative attention elsewhere in this forum?I never use it, and at the very least caution is advised if you're thinking of using it. I also don't use the Zip case much.

This is a long way of saying that the pros and cons actually may balance out, depending.

I'll admit that I use the exo case a little more than the Speck. The exo's material is very pliable and it's easy to put it on and take it off. Though I find the Speck fits perfectly on my 30GB, some will disagree, and those with the smaller models may find the one-size-for-all Speck to be too loose.

If you don't use the dock much, the exo's connector slot is handy. Then there are all those fabulous exo colors...

With all that being said, I still use the Apple-supplied case as much as the other two, since I've rigged my dock to connect with my car stereo and it's way easier taking it in and out of that than with either of the others. But if someone (Lajo) comes up with a replacement dock cover, I'd probably use the exo case exclusively.

As for the exo2, who knows what that will be like? (Lajo...imagine a three-way comparison between the cases...let me know...)

Why thank you :D

I celebrated by accidentally sleeping through my Japanese lecture and missing a kanji quiz.

Ah, to grow ever more mature each year. ;D

I believe I have a new iskin exo2 waiting for me at home... amongst other things.

Can't wait to open it and try it on for size... this may be the one silicon case that takes the place of my speck skin for good!
