LOVE my new Speck iPod Skin

On Saturday, I got 2 iSkins. While they were nice, I was slightly underwhelmed because I realized that I couldn't use my dock (which I use frequently because I've found it works/sounds best for FM modulation in my car when it's in the dock as well as when I plug into my home receiver). I read the posts about cutting through the holes to make it dock friendly, but I'm not much of a hacker and that seemed drastic.

So yesterday, in reading through the "cut up your iSkin" posts, I noticed a mention to the Speck product. Got online, ordered a charcoal (almost ordered all 3, but got cheap at the last minute), and had it overnighted so I can have it for my trip on Thursday.

I LOVE IT! Fits nicely on my 40GB. Looks sharp (actually looks more opaque than solid charcoal, so it actually matches the cover I have on my cellphone). I like the way the top is completely open -- found that with the iSkin, it was hard to access the Hold switch and that you had to plug headphones in just right for them to go all the way in. Also, the grips on back are nice.

Only thing I wish it had different was a slit in the bottom for the dock slot, so I could use a dock cable if I want to without having to slip the bottom off. It's very convenient, though, when using a dock. But it would be nice to choose whether to flip the bottom off depending on whether or not I was using an actual dock vs. the cable. Thought of cutting a hole in the bottom, but once again, I'm not much of a hacker.

Any tips on fitting this skin? I'm ready to return the 3 pack I ordered. They don't line up well over the buttons, scroll wheel, etc. I like the idea of protecting the Pod, but I mostly use it in the dock at work, or on the Belkin in the truck.

I don't know about fitting it to a 20GB. I don't really know the different in size & shape.

As to how to fit it, all I can say is that when I put mine on, instead of shoving it up through the bottom, I put it in like you have to with an iSkin. Put it down through the main screen hole, and then wrap the upper part around the top. For me, when I did it that way, it was pretty much right on as soon as I got everything wrapped around. The material is pretty stretchable and moveable, so I did rub it around with my fingers to get it to fit perfectly around the buttons, but it wasn't a big deal.
