Have you purchased an AppleCare plan?
I'm thinking of getting it for my iPod. I figure since the battery will need to be replaced in about 2 years I may as well pay $60 now instead of $90 later.

I haven't one coz getting 'apple' and 'customer service' in the same sentence in the uk is a dream. Given that if it runs out in a year or two then there will be a nice new shiny 4G or 5G Ipod i'd rather have it seems better to just use the Ipod to death, however I did buy the Belkin battery pack and i'm using 2200 NiMh batteries in it (I own a charger already) which gives me much better life for train journeys and the like. Given your in the US maybe it'd be easier and more worth your while.

I don't see anything about ordering the service within a timeperiod of purchase. Either it's added in addition to your 1 year warrantee, or it starts from the date of purchase.
