newbie iso help
Hi im an absolute newb to the ipod scene and i have a few questions about this new frontier.
i ordered an unused, sealed 5gb ipod off ebay
and i have a few q's.
1st do the older models have games and contacts options?
2nd im using a windows os , i heard some firewire cards r no good , what are some recommended pci firewire cards?
3rd what program should i use to transfer files? ehpod? xplay music match ? what is the best?
4th my ipod will be mac , i know i have to format it into windows but since its brand new and mac how will it be detected by windows? will it ever be detected by windows im confused
5th how comfortable / snug / secure are the factory headphones? do they eliminate extraneous sounds? will i even need to buy newer headphones?
will an ipod attract the ladies?
can someone outline the steps i should take to set up my ipod once i take it out the box and prepare it for use? an outline of this sort will be of great assistance to many newbs such as myself.

well i'm stil kinda new to the scene too but here is all i have figured out.
1.) the older models do have games and contacts.. (i think ^^ gonna have double check with someone esle)
3.) I also have windows and i find that iTunes is actually the easiest program to use because of it's drag and drop playlists and library features, very convenient.
5.)The earbuds that come with the ipod is pretty good sound wise, i don't believe they have white noise cancellation, for me they fit pretty snug but everyone's ear is different so go figure.
Extra question.) darn' tootin! hahah! when i got my ipod all the ladies were hanging off me the see it ; )

my first ipod was the og 5 gb model so i can answer your questions...
1. yes it has a game (breakout) and contacts (as long as you update to the most recent firmware)
2. i use the adaptec fireconnect 4300 on my pc...hasn't ever given me any problems
3. i used xplay...it worked pretty decently, although it had its fair share of bugs/problems, etc. it did a good job i guess...but now that i got a new 3g 20 gig ipod, i use itunes and found it to be infinitely better and more stable...not to mention its free
4. if you use xplay or a similar program, you won't have to worry about formatting it for windows as xplay was designed specifically for detecting mac ipods on pcs...if you want to use itunes then you'd have to format and there's instructions on how to do that in the faqs section of this site...i personally kept mine as a mac ipod since there was no other alternative at the time...

what kind of ladies do you want to attract with th iPod lol : )
if you put the iPod down your pants i'm sure there are some ladies that may be drawn to you...!
if you display the iPod normally...who knows!! :D

3)iTunes is definitely the BEST, its user interface is so (and I stress so) simple. I'm a n00b and I had a question, posted it, figured it out myself two seconds later and deleted the question [twice.].
2)Look into Belkin FireWire cards, their accessories are great since they have experience with the iPod.
Extra Question)If you're so assured (because your black, look at the quote) why ask?
And no, I'm not being mean, I'm just joking around wit'cha.
