3rd Generation Battery Life

Why is it impossible to replace the battery on a 3rd generation iPod?

it isn't -

http://www.ipodbattery.com

or try this very comprehensive thread:

i think we are all waiting for someone to better the current capacity of these replacement batteries before we all rush out to get one, or maybe a firmware update that gives us another two hours extra.

eventually someone will make a battery that has more capcity, if theres any complaints with the ipod it would be the battery life, or that it scraches kinda easy.

Chances are that there's a manufacture that will put out a battery cuz i'll bet everyone here would be lineing up ( i would) to buy one

what u have to do is steal the battery out of the 2nd gen ipod for they have a better battery open up your ipod (dont do this if ur clumsie or afraid of screwing up your ipod for you have a 40% chance of screwing it up) take the battery out and simply changing them.

The Gen 2 battery won't fit in a Gen 3. They are different sizes, physically.
