Scrolling text while viewing?

I have a lot of files that are very close to one another in their naming convention. The problem I'm having is when I'm viewing them I cant tell what the entire name is without playing it and then viewing the name when it scrolls across the screen. I'm very surprised I have not seen other people that have this issue with iPod's. I was hoping someone out there knows of a way I can view the entire file name when I'm just viewing the file, maybe someway to make it scroll.

Thanks in advance!
Tony :)

Is it just the name of the track that is too long? Are your files properly tagged so that only the track name is being shown and not other info like album, artist etc.?

As far as I am aware there is no way to scroll the name of songs in the list, the name only scrolls when a track is playing.

This is an example of the file names I'm having trouble with:

Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL Part 1.mp3
Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL Part 2.mp3
Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL Part 3.mp3
Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL Part 4.mp3

Just edit the ID tag to say: ASOT 117 XXL Part 1.mp3 etc

As i take it that ASOT stands for A State Of Trance, then thereis no need to have this repeated in a shorter format.

Also i think you need to sort out your tagging, as really if your scrolling by song title it should just say the title no the artist as well.

The problem is you probably don't have any ID3 tags on those files, or if you do the title tag just has the filename in it.

I highly recommend a program called ID3-TagIT from http://www.id3-tagit.de/. Someone else here recommended it and I have found it to be brilliant. It can fill in the ID3v2 tags based on the filename of your MP3s.

Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL Part 1.mp3

The song name and part # should be the only things in the track title. The artist and album name should be in their respective places.

I'm guessing about this, but you could do something like:

Title: A State Of Trance Part 1
Artist: Armin Van Buuren
Album: ASOT 117 XXL

Or just place the number in front...

1.Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL.mp3
2.Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL.mp3
3.Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL.mp3
4.Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance ASOT 117 XXL.mp3

Question:

Why are you including all that information in one tag? Aren't you using the name tag for the song name, the track# tag for the track number, Artist for Artist and Album for Album?

The iPod doesn't display file names...it displays your tags.
