Ok I think my iPods battery may have died over night

I decided to charge my battery overnight because it was flat.
I checked that it had started to charge and then went to sleep.
When I woke up I found the battery was flat!!
and the screen was also blank, it didn't have the 'charged' symbol.

I'm now recharging it again in the hope that it was a one off problem.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I've had no previous issues with the battery.

This has implications:
1) The battery seems to be loosing power whilst switched off (rapidly loosing power, I know the iPod uses a little power when switched off, but not enough to drain it overnight!)
2) It was plugged into the mains so the battery should have been constantly being topped up if the battery was loosing power, but it still died. There might be something wrong with the adaptor

:( :( :(

try resetting the ipod. maybe you?ll get a proper indication of the charge then. sometimes the ipod dies without any reason and once it?s reset it works fine again. this was termed s.i.d.s. (sudden ipod death syndrome) on the old forum. if that doesn?t work you may indeed have a problem with either battery or a/c adaptor.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll try that.
