addictive. when you have people posting 300+ posts before they recieve the product they are commenting on, definitely addictive.

You would think if your name was really "SlutMonkey" there would be a whole new kind of support group for you. :D

Well, I have more post's here in a month than I do at boards I've been going to for a year or longer.

This board is also the only one I visit every day. Most I visit 2 or 3 times a week.

Well I guess there is no more appropriate place, so I will post it here.
With this post I have hit 500 total posts.

Although I can't remember if I have before, as I have been a member of many boards, I believe this is the first time I have reached the 500 post plateau. Or at the very least the quickest I have ever reached it.

I know others on the site have well over one thousand posts and so 500 seems to be a paltry sum but I usually don?t spend so much time on one particular site. I tend to read and comment as much as possible on as wide a selection of topics as I have time for when surfing the net.

But after many months of reading this site on an almost daily basis I decided to dive in to the community and I am glad I did.
It is by far one of the friendliest, most informed, well moderated, exceptionally edited, and updated sites on the net. And it covers a product that wows me technically and has renewed my love for all things music. For that, regardless of what device I have 5 years from now, I will be always be grateful to the iPod and the Lounge.

Hope to see you all still hanging around here after 500 more!!

:D

SpideyPod

500 posts since September of 2003? Wow, congratulations.

Anyways, I feel there are two types of addictions that go along with the ipodlounge.

1: Posting addiction. People who come on here and post, and post, and post and...well, you get the idea.

2: Frequent reading addiction (I tend to fit in this one). People who read this site regularly. Like, every time they get to a computer with internet access they hop on here to see what new posts are out there.

Of course it is possible to suffer from both.

So with that, Hello my name is EnderWiggin and I'm an ipodloungaholic.

I am always checking the boards even if I don't always have time to post. This is my favorite MB because everybody is cool and there are almost never any flame wars...even PCs and Macs can peacefully coexist. There are no immature kiddies that post in all caps or use the following (dat, sup, wurd, etc.) Thanks for the making this place what it is everybody. I love the lounge!

Is it?

I've been here for just over two weeks and look at my post count! 17 posts a day, and all of this while in the middle of my exams, yes this place is addictive.

# 21 Re: Is iPodlounge addictive?
Well, that all depends on your definition of 'addictive'. Am I checking multiple forums (fora?) every day? Yep. Have I posted without even owning an iPod? Absolutely.

Now, if you were to ask me if I've robbed to pay for it, or stayed up for 4 days straight using it, or lied to my wife and kids (like I once did for another addiction), well, the answer is no. I guess it's a matter of degree, eh?

Addiction is commonly defined as uncontrollable desire, increased tolerance, and abstinence when a desire is not fulfilled. The addict does not feel inclined to break the vicious circle although that behavior is destructive. Note also that addiction does not necessarily mean addiction to a chemical substance, but can be ANY stimuli (e.g. new forum posts).

BTW: Where have all the "old" posters from the old ipodlounge messageboard gone?

I remember seeing alot of them having plus 1000 posts.

I do find myself reading new posts virtually every day. Used to be I could say I was learning about using the iPod, about Ephpod, then Media Center 9. Now I have no such excuse. I just like reading what folks are saying!

maybe you should replace the 'posts' count with a 'number of hours spent on this site' count to reveal how addictive this place can be LOL!
