Where is the STOP button?

Hi all,

as a new iPOD user one thing I found interesting was the lack of a stop button. If I just browse all songs, and press play, how do I stop the #### thing without progressing through all the tracks? I've found double-clicking the <Back> button sometimes works but its a hit and miss?

Little Help??

You don't 'stop' it.
You more or less 'pause' it.

I thought it was kinda wierd at first but that's the way it works I guess.

yes, i found this a bit odd too. i used to be able to stop my old 2nd Gen ipod by putting it to sleep but that doeasn't work with the new 3gen ones it just pauses.

try activating the music quiz, that seems to stop it. (but not really an ideal method)

When the iPod is playing, press and hold the play button for a few seconds. The iPod will stop playing, spin down, and turn off the screen and backlight.

iPods, never really power down, they sleep. But they have several modes of sleep. The process above puts it into the deapest sleep cycle.

The only time I ever saw an iPod power down is when you cold cycle it. (Menu+Play)

yes this puts it to sleep but when you turn on the 3rd g ipods they are where you left them (ie paused in a song) where as the 2nd gen one i had stopped.
