Some people use the dock, some people don't.

I use it very rarely to tell you the truth (with my 15 gb) when I listening to music at home with my stereo cos of the line out to my speakers.

The dock is basically an easy way to connect your iPod to your computer or stereo system. Instead of fishing for a cord, and plugging the iPod in, you set it in the dock on your desk. I don't have a dock, and I don't find that I need or even especially want one. It might be good if you want to connect it to your stereo...your iPod can stay upright.

hey thanx, i think im just going to buy a 10 gb instead. I dont care about the case and since you said i dont really need the dock i wont get it. I just think the remote thingy is cool to have and i would never be able to fill a 20 gb up anyways.

The dock really isn't anything you need unless you want the line-out, but the 20 GB model is worth buying anyway.

Dock, a case, and best of all: a remote.
It really is useful, and it will be even more useful when the winter comes...

Not very fun to open your jacket and take out your iPod to change song when it's -15?C ;)

Of course maybe you live in some warm country, but the remote is something at least I really need :)

Well, honestly if I were you I'd search around the net for good deals and find a cheap 20 gig somewhere (Dell has roughly $100 off every 2 or 3 weeks.) You don't need a dock. You don't need a case. You don't need a remote. However, if you don't buy them you'll never really know if you missed out on something.

I use the dock everyday. I like my ipod standing up. It just looks too #### cool ;) Besides that, docking is smoother than having to press a button on a cable and plugging it in (which you have to do every day). Most of all... you'll never scratch your ipod when it's docked. You can't say the same when it's laying on it's face on a desk.

I can tel you right from the start, the remote is a useless piece of ####. It's designed badly and is awkward to use (in my opinion at least)

As for the case, it does it's job. Once you cut off the apple tag it doesn't scratch anything up. It's easy to take your ipod in and out of it while preventing it from accidentally falling out. It has a nice feel to it and is pretty much indestructable. Don't be fooled though. It's not leather. I thought it was going to be...

Personally I'm glad I bought a 15 gig instead of a 10. I had a good case and a dock right from start. I will use the extra space and believe me so will you. Once you have a feeling that you have all the space in the world you will fill your ipod with all the music you can find (which is a good thing.) If not right off the bat, in a year or so you will come close to filling it all up.

You can still get a refurbished 15 GB (cheaper than the new 20GB).

Well actually, I think they've taken all the new refurbs off their site so you'll probably have somewhat of a wait.

good point, I overlooked that they are not always available. CompUSA (if you're in the US, not sure if they ship elsewere) also has refurbs every so often. If you can find one, the price break is hard to beat.
