60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
It looks like iPod (sort of),

so, I hope Apple will answer with a competitive model by Christmas, what do you think?

For lack of better words, it looks like a big, metal, clunky turd. Of course 60GB would be nice. I'd have enough cds to rip and fill it, but with my I prefer my 15GB iPod and being more selective of what I put on it rather than having all of the space in the world.

fairly descent design. nothing new or ground breaking, but lets me reminisce of the aiwa walkman i used to have as a teenager. anybody know the dimensions?

It's big :(
And it's heavy, the 30 GB Zen NX is around 230 grams...

...how do you browse?
the buttons on the side? psh, thats weak
# 5 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
I think it looks awesome. I would love to have one.
# 6 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
uh yea, it looks rather #### sleek and stylish. How exaclty does it looks like a big, metal turd? That's just being majorly biased.
with that said, I love my pod and would never give it up.
# 7 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
total iPod rip-off. And why would anybody need 60 gigs? That would hold...what? 15,000 songs? I like to see a person that had 15,000 songs that they like AND would listen to enough to justify having all of them on one player. iPod rocks.
# 8 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
Do you really really have to be a sad iPod fanboy. Geez I hate blind one-eyed people.
Competition is good, without it, we'd see the same situation with the OS market, and I'm sure most of you wouldn't like that.
Remember, when you are comparing these new HD based MP3 players with the iPod, take into account that your most likely comparing a 3rd generation product with a 1st, not a fair comparison.

I am sure the same people who knock 60 gigs now will be thrilled when Apple releases a 60 gig 'Pod.
It?s ok to be partial to the iPod but at least try to have an open mind and hesitate from labeling a player just because it isn't an IPod. Competition and new products are good for everyone, especially us consumers.
# 11 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
Alright...I agree that many people neglect all the other competition and write off their products as crappy, ugly, etc.
And I agree that we need to keep an open mind. Competition is good. It brings down prices and brings about innovation.
However, I still stand by my opinion as stated before, "it looks like a big, metal, clunky turd."
That is my opinion and would be regardless of whether or not the iPod existed. I just don't like it. But if people want to continue believing that EVERYONE claims to not like something other than the iPod is being close-minded about it that is there right to have that opinion.

Not like I spent an hour on the site, but can someone tell me how it's different from the Zen NX? It's like Creative just changed the name and gave it a 60 gig drive.

60GB would be really nice.............
# 15 Re: 60GB player NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra from Creative
60GB would be nice. But I doubt I'll ever accumulate that much music or by the time I have hard-disc plays will come with 50TB as standard. If it was the same price as a 30GB iPOD I probably would go for the Creative.
I think it looks very cool, maybe as good as the iPOD but thats because I prefer the metallic colour to the plain white iPOD. And why don't they increase the size of the screen? There is space to do so, which would make navigating to interface even easier. Having buttons round the side would get some getting used to so you can keep watching the screen while pressing buttons. The sound quality will probably be better than the iPOD. Also if they make battery life about 15 hours minimum it would be good. I think it maybe more unreliable as well as bigger harddiscs have a tendancy to breakdown much earlier because they are doing twice as much work to scan for the MP3s. It would also be good if it supported MP3, WMA, and ACC so there are no compatibility issues, but I doubt this. Creative will probably use WMA or try to create their own format.

as a 10g 2nd gen ipod owner, i know the how cool it feels to own an ipod. i must admit, however, now that i am looking at upgrading, the nomad zen xtra seems to be winning my favor. i can get a 60g zen xtra for the price of a 20g ipod. for three times the storage capacity, i am definatley taking a serious look at the zen xtra. although it may not come with a dock (which i don't have now either) and a remote, and may be 1.7 oz heavier, 3 times the storage is a huge factor. also, the case seems like it wouldn't be as prone to scratches. does anyone own one, or has anyone used one?
also, does anyone know the spes for my ipod(10g 2nd gen) so i can compare the weight and dimensions?

Dude, this thing costs $200 less than a 30GB (now actually 40GB) iPod.

The Zen Xtra line is exactly the same as the NX line, only featuring a bigger screen and higher capability. People who just want something to play their songs, in the cheaper price possible will get the NX. Those who can shell out a couple of extra bucks will get the Xtra. What I really don't understand is why they're selling the 30GB Zen Xtra and the 30GB Zen NX for the same price... Or even, the 60GB Zen Xtra for the same price as the plain 'Zen' (oldest model).

I bet you don't say that when Apple releases a mighty 60gig iPod.

Heh, yeah. That's such a biased comment.
EDIT: On another note, every comment that begins with "what an iPod ripoff" is doomed to be biased as hell. How would it be a ripoff? Because creative doesn't wanna hand Apple the market and actually releases their own product? No offense, but you're full of #####. And just so you know, a lot of people have 60gigs of music. "they don't need it all on the same player" - good, then you don't need your music on the same player, go get a 512MB player and switch music in and out every night.
