I will buy it but... after 2 or 3 weeks...

if you have a friend that he/she studying then buy it from applestore as a student and you will get it for 274.95 pounds

you get a consession on all apple products as a student. go to the apple website, click on education and then on the online store. that?ll show you the prices for students. you can also go to your nearest apple store and buy it there for the discounted price. all you need to do for this is either send them a copy of your student id or show it in the store (they?ll make a copy).

If you want the best possible value for money, consider a Gen 2 refurb

i look at it this way..
and ipod in canada costs 665.00 after tax
now, for the price of most 64mb mp3 players, its about $150. now, for 4 times the price, youre getting lets see 313 times the space. Youll be finding that 64mb isnt very.. spacious. then youll want more memory cards, and those can run you about $100

(all prices are in canadain.. just to make sure)

What are you doing to me?

I've always wanted a hard drive MP3 of some sorts but the hefty price tags have always put me off. In hindsight I guess I was just delaying the inevitable !

I had a Sony network walkman, think it was 64mb but the limited memory and the fact I had to encode the music in ATRAC format was just a major pain couple with the most un-user friendly software ever !

I have 2 portable Minidisc players and the fact that I have to actually record them in real time and tag them it was just a pain.

The same went for CD's, I burned them but seldom listened to them as I didn't want to bring my discman with me as I thought it was too much to carry that and an additional 10 cds with me to keep me going.

Most of my music I have is now in MP3 format on my PC or have been burned in MP3 format on CDR and DVDR so I have some room on HD for some stuff.

I finally came to the conclusion after trying to avoid it that a hard drive based mp3 player was the only viable option for me.

Didn't think I could justify the ?300+ price tag of an ipod at all because it is a hell of a lot of money. Decide to be a bit more realistic in my budget so was looking at the 20gb Rio jukebox as they can be picked up quite reasonable. But I knew if I did get one of them I would still be longing to own an ipod.

Anyway, a few months ago my mate bought a 3rd Gen 30gb ipod and I was amazed ! I wanted one so bad but again the cost was the stumbling block. 2 weeks ago my girlfriend was saying how much she REALLY wanted an ipod so I told her to get one as she deserved it as she hasn't bought much for herself as of late. She took the plunge and bought a 3rd Gen 20gb ipod and that made me crave one even more !!!

So after a weekend of being in denial I thought sod it !!! Got myself into ebay and stayed up till 5am to bid on a brand new 3rd gen 40 gd ipod. It was worth staying up for since I won the auction and a decent price too.

I do feel a bit guilty about spending all that money but I don't think it's actually sank in yet that I'm actually getting an ipod of my own !!! I know that when it does arrive on my doorstep all the guilt will soon fly out the window and the joy of owning one and being able to have a choice of so much music at my fingertips will be amazing.

God I can't wait to get it now !!! Hopefully my 40gb ipod will arrive sometime this week.

I ordered 2 pairs of white Sony MDR-EX71 earphones (one for me and one for my girlfriend) from ebay to match our ipods and they arrived this morning and I'm so longing to try them.

Also ordered 4 i-skins (2 for my girflfriend) as well as the navi-pod remote control for good measure ! I've spent that much already so might as well spend some more really ! *haha*

Already have about 15gb of music ready to upload and more to encode.

Checking out other ipod sites and being on this forum for the past week, reading the various posts about peoples experiences with them and the initial "opening of the box". Just knowing I am getting an ipod has just made me totally obsessed with the ipod even more. It's quite scary !! *haha*

Don't waste your time living in denial, go and get one !!!! You know you want to !! :D
