Belkin Gruv-X?

i was browsing the ipod accessories section in the apple.com store and saw a belkin device which looks exactly like the audia gruv-x fm transmitter except it is now all white.

did belkin purchase the rights to the gruv-x? one wonders how this will affect the sales of their own tunecast fm transmitter...hmmm.

I don't think it has the specific answer you're looking for, but check out this thread from the iPodlounge homepage:

Thanks kloh,

It's pretty clear that Belkin has rebadged Gen-Dyne's Gruv-X FM transmitter. I recall reading that Gen-Dyne recently went out of business so this is all makes sense now.

I'm just wondering why Belkin continues to market their TuneCast transmitter which only transmits on 4 channels (88.1, 88.3, 88.5 or 88.7Mhz) when the Gruv-X has the ability to transmit on ANY frequency between 88.1Mhz-107.9Mhz. Go figure.

Btw, the Belkin Gruv-X is up on their website:

The Gruv-X is made by a Korean company called Digiana: http://www.digiana.net/english/html/main1_1.html

It's been going around repackaged for a variety of different brands. Belkin made the best of that crappy design, I'd say

I just got the new Belkin FM Transmitter. I live in Los Angeles so it's really tough to find a completely open station, but I've got to say this little thing did a great job on a number of stations. I found a number of stations with no interference. You can pick what station you want by .1 increments so no matter where you are you're bound to find something. For $40 and no hassle, it's pretty good product, especially considering you can use it anywhere. Of course the sound won't be CD quality, but the noise floor is nearly imperceptable on quiet sections, totally imperceptable on louder sections (not Metallica loud, just vocals and guitar say). Indoors, I was able to get great reception from the next room, through a wall. If your work computer doesn't have a firewire card and you don't want to keep repatching your computer speakers from the iPod to the soundcard and back, you can just get a cheap boombox and be in business.
