I just wanted to get a gestalt of what people are thinking about the next ipod.

I'm getting a new mobile phone that will have a FM radio on it (it's 110g BTW) so is smaller than the ipod, but my Sony MD has a LCD remote, which was reall useful, but if they do have a remote, it will suck battery life even more..... :(dom_eden at 2007-11-15 14:50:40 >

sure would be nice if it worked with windows98se (without the third party software) ... i got so annoyed, i took the #### thing back!so i'm not buying one untill it supports 98 or i upgrade my os.
surely there's more 98 users out there than ME or 2000 ? :rolleyes:

I doubt battery size means size increase. It looks like the iPod doesn't use the room very effieciently. Then again the iPod design is 2 years old, correct me if I'm wrong.I think (and hope) the next gen iPod will be about the same size as the 3G pods, only with just about every feature you can think of.
Btw, the firmware option is ######ed and pointless.

BOOKMARKS(sorry to shout) but its such an obvious feature, even the mp3/cd players out there have it, why can't I restart where I stopped on a 'long' mp3? (I do audiobooks)

Heres one:the one thing i want to see in the next itunes:
i want it to turn into an all in one media center (such as windows media player *shutter*)
it would be able to do movies AND tunes... ALL IN ONE!

the one thing i want in the next ipod is the ability to view CD documentation. by that, i mean the pamphlet that comes with your CD. itunes gives you the album cover, but i would like it if they could give you the whole thing to make it more like buying "real" music. and if you could view it on your ipod, that would make it much more like a real buying experience IMO.d33t3r at 2007-11-15 15:00:53 >

d33t3r:well, if youre using osx, theres a program called iLyrics, it downlaods the lyrics for the songs in your mp3 library and syncs it with your ipod
the only problem? it freezes your computer if it cant find the lyrics to your song

As my very expensive iPod is brand new, I can't conceive of buying another one until this one is unusable. So I'm thinking in terms of accessories for this one, and the iPod is an ideal platform for storage of all sorts of data. An FM tuner is the first thing I thought of, along with the voice recorder, but someone already built that. But a better one would be a digital camera/video recorder thing that snaps into it like the iTrip or voice recorder gizmos. Longer Battery life is top of the list.Fm Tuner close second.
LCD Remote is a step behind 2nd place.
And WMA is a distant fourth....but gaining :)

Its not like the new ipod's have new games and crap coming out every week for the 3g ipods. The only firmware we have so far is just to take care of the clicking between tracks and some other small issues. Worry not you outdated podders --or get a bigger budget!
