iPodlounge top 500 tracks?
hi mods,
just wondering if you guys have ever considered putting together a iPodlounge top 500 (or 100, or whatever) tracks based on what the loungers vote - ie everyone send in their top 25 (or 10) and then compile a list from that. you could allocate each with points (25 for 1st, 24 for 2nd etc) and the track with the highest number of points wins, and then we have a definitive list. i know it would be a lot of work for someone(s) to do, but might be interesting in comparison to such lists form billboard, or radio stations etc.
not sure if this has been suggested before, and if it has, no doubt it was rejected for good reason.

I think that's a great idea...
Though without a little structure, it could really get out of hand. There are thousands and thousands of tracks in the store, and even more not. I think you'll get a lot of different songs with only a few votes, and probably see many of the same bands, but different tracks chosen.
I would almost recommend putting up a list of tracks for people to choose from, but that's much, much too restrictive. Perhaps something like "only songs released this year". Or maybe, people can just submit their favorite 3 tracks and then people vote from there?
Don't know. I like the idea, but there needs to be some sort of criteria, if you know what I mean.

I am not sure, but I am pretty sure something like that will be in the works soon

It could work. It would take some time and a large number of submissions but eventually a list, and preferences for certain songs, would materialize. Not sure if any of the mods which to handle such a massive undertaking but it is a pretty interesting idea.

the top 25 played then assumes that you have it on your iPod already and that you play your faves all the time and in ascending order. there are some tracks out there that i just have not got round to getting yet. maybe if it were kept to just ten that would be more manageable, and it would be less restrictive if no recommendations were made - anyway there seems to be a real variety of tastes out there if you look at some of the songs and albums posted on some of the threads - maybe a top 1000 would capture this better lol. there must be someone out there with good access (maybe even excel, or even oracle, informix??) skills that can put something together so that once data is entered, a list can be compiled pretty easily LOL
