Conversion mp3 --> aac

I'm a little confused: if I convert a song from mp3 (192 kbps) to AAC (same bitrate), I've some advantage ? Or the quality it's conditioned from the quality of mp3 ?
thanks

A good way to imagine that process is pouring water (quality) from one container to another. You can't gain water, and you may actually lose some!

As for file size: AAC 192kbps may or may not be slightly smaller than MP3 192kbps - reports vary.

I'd leave the tracks as MP3, at least for the time being.

You really shouldn't convert from one to the other. If you want AAC files, start over from the cd. They'll sound a lot better.
