Ahhhhh There Everywhere
I swear to god that its been two months in shool and I've seen 50 ipod's. My running coach pulled one out of his pocket today. Its SOOOO CRAZY. But of course im used to that kind of thing cause Im a twin and I seem em everywhere too. Crazy coincidence...

I have to agree they are catching on quite quick. I only knew of maybe a handful of people with the first two generations of iPods in my highschool... and then I came to uni. Maybe it's just the overabundance of audio-loving young adults, or the ever-increasing advertising and popularity of the newer models, but it seems that within a few weeks of moving into my dorm, the iPods came out in droves. AND THEY KEEP COMING!
I see about 10 iPods on my way to class each morning, on average. And let me tell you, I take the absolute quickest route from point A to point B, live in the most secluded residential area of my university, and this all takes place during my earliest classes when I'm sure at least half the student body is still asleep. It's unreal, and it only gains momentum each day.
On one hand, I'm always thrilled to see another iPodder about. There's a sense of "nice taste there, buddy" that all iPod owners seem to radiate to others. It's a happy little world we have here.
But on the other hand, the synical elitist in me sneers at these iPoding "newcomers" (hypocrisy, I know... I've only been in the ranks a few months now!) Whenever I see a younger person with an iPod... or just someone who doesn't look like they "get" it... I tend to roll my eyes. Extremely judgemental, but a knee-jerk reaction. I like it when my interests are underground for the most part... when EVERYONE has an iPod, they seem less... special somehow.
Then again, I just remind myself that the more popular they are, the better it becomes for all of us. iTunes for Windows, firmware upgrades, accessories, better deals, the works.
It's a good time to like stylish yet expensive gadgets. :D

kinda makes you not feel special anymore

Apple is advertising like crazy for the iPod. Ive noticed it in a few rap and R&B videos. I think they paid for the iPod to be there, because it always gets a close up for like a second or two, like a add or something

There's about 4 at my school. Including mine.
I was the 2nd to get one. and 50% of us have Mac, 50% Windows. I feel 'higher' because I have the 'true' iPod. A mac one ;)
LOL.
# 8 Re: Ahhhhh There Everywhere
Winky guy aside, that kind of attitude really doesn't make sense, especially now that both Win iPods and Mac iPods give their users essentially the same experience (iTunes, etc.)
I can see how Macs and iPods certainly "go together" better... but the more time that goes on, the more the difference between the Mac iPod user experiences and Win iPod user experiences becomes barely more than cosmetic.
Which of course, is a good thing. We all payed the same price, why not get the same benefits? :D

I only know 4 other people in my whole TOWN, besides me, who have an ipod.
Some random kid at my school
a good friend of mine at school
Our drummer at church
My stepdad
Granted, i live in a town with 10,000 people... and really only 5,000 year-round, but still!
It is fun seeing someone else with an ipod... its like a club that the loser in the corner is not allowed in.
Why? Because they have cooties!!!!

Not only have I never seen another person in my town with any iPod, I've never seen an iPod in my town period. Not even on display in stores! (Although they do sell them.) :( I want to be included in the club that the loser in the corner is not allowed in!
