Deleting songs from my iPod

How can I delete songs from my iPod. I edited some song tags in my mmjb library and then synchonized my iPod. Rather than replacing all the files on the iPod with those in the library, it added the new songs and left the old, so now I have some stuff on the iPod twice. Is there any way I can delete these unwanted songs?

If not, then how can I erase everything on my iPod and start again?

Is mmjb a bag of sh#te, or what? Award winning my arse! What's better out there?

I know that with 40GB at my disposal, having 15 tracks twice on the iPod isn't a massive problem, but I'm a little bit anal about my music collection (as I'm sure many podders out there are) and get frustrated if it's not exactly as I want it.
Cheers.

In MMJB, click VIEW, PORTABLE DEVICE MANAGER. iPod should be under ATTACHED PORTABLE DEVICES...click on it, and your list of Pod'd songs appears. Hi lite the song(s) you need to remove and *drumroll*...

select "REMOVE" from the buttons @ bottom!! I'm anal about my music and tags, too. :)

I use Ephpod. I've never used MMJB so I cannot compare, but I love EphPod, simple & easy. But Ephpod does the same, when a tag is changed it will not update the database but will see it as a new mp3. Therefore the very few times I change a tag I first delete the song on my iPod...it's not a big hassle for me since I transfer songs via a firewire card [very quick] and I seldom change tags.

I'm pretty new to all this too. I recently switched to ephpod and will never look back ... you can easily view the files and edit the track tags ... try it, you'll like it

MMJB is horrible

Note that there's a difference in changing the tag in EphPod and in the actual mp3 file on your HD. I've never used yet the tag options in EphPod as I want the mp3s on my HD to [also] have correct/same tags. I want my iPod and my sync folder on my PC to be 100% identical, incl. the id3 tags!

Yup deleting songs on the iPod via EphPod is just selecting them and hitting the DEL button.

I did try this as it seemed the obvious thing to do, but the tracks I want to delete don't show up at all in the list of songs in Portable device manager.

Thanks for replying but I'm still confused and frustrated by this conundrum
