cant see screen on new 40 GB ipod when I turn it on
After finally getting my IPOD to work, I'm now wondering if it needs sent back, when I turn it on the screen is not visible and it clicks away and all is fine but I cant see it, then sometimes it is very faint and rarely it is normal. I've formatted and restored the firmware several times and it is no different, I've checked the contrast in settings and it isnt that.
cany anyone help, am I missing something or deos it need sent back ?
thx

Hmmm - That doesn't sound good at all.
If the screen is very faint and you've tried altering the contrast then it sounds like you'll need to send it back. :(

OK thanks,
It done it again this morning, I was going on a long drive and wanted to listen to the music I just put on it, also I've spent the last few days making it work, different versions of windows, different hardware, different firewire cards etc, I'm just fed up with it. I gave it a firm tap on the back of the steel case and it is now ok and has been all day, I'll keep an eye on it and if it happens one more time within the 28 day period, I will send it back.

Funny what a firm tap can do to stuff, but sometimes it just does the trick. I have a feeling it was probably tapped in transit, and you might have put the component back in place. My only worry would be about the hard disk.
As you said, if it keeps playing up, send it in.
