Did I do wrong? [help please]

Hey... recently I ordered a new model 15 gig iPod from the UK online apple store, and now it is 'due' tomorrow; however, did I order the right thing? I am intending to run the iPod with my PC, which has USB, will I be able to use my iPod straight away, or will I have to buy something else to adapt it?[if so what?] I was kinda dazzled by all of the thingies that it came with on the apple site, so I guess I just assumed that it would work...

you need firewire on your pc as it doesnt come with a usb cable ( you have to buy it separate ) i'm having trouble making my ipod work with my pc atm :p

Hi, your iPod is alright for use with either PC or Macs (like all new models).
However, they currently only support firewire mode, support for USB connection won't be available for another month or two.
But if your PC only has USB 1.1 anyway, transferring your music will take FOREVER!!! If it has super fast usb 2.0 it will be better.
So if you want to use it straight away you'll have to buy a Firewire card (another type of connector, really fast too). Here all needed wires and software will be 'in the box'.
But if you want to use USB, you'll have to wait, AND buy another cable (i think)...
But it's an iPod it'll rock whatever you do!!!

if you are interested in buying a firewire card, do a search on the subject in this forum and/or in the old forum. i personally recommend adaptec?s fireconnect 4300. i use it myself, as you can see in my sig ;) :) . if anything else is unclear, don?t hesitate to ask.welcome to ipodlounge! :)

thanks everyone.so... if i want it to work when i get it (as opposed to in a couple of months), i'd have to go out and buy a firewire adapter card? is that all i'd need? is it something that is readily available 'from all good retailers'?
