iPod Win2k Crash

My new iPod 30gb is not FAT32 format so I'm attempting to reformat it for the first time, however, everytime I insert in iPod onto the dock my Windows 2000 PC crashes. I'm using an Adaptec USB2.0 5100 card with 2.01 Updater. Has anyone experienced this before and have a solution to this?

Try switching PCI slots for the firewire card. Very often this can be the problem.
