Converting Mac iPod to Windows

I'm planning to convert my Mac iPod to a windows iPod using my PC. But I have a couple of questions:

1. I'm using the ST labs firewire card has anyone tried running the updater with this card? Did it all seem to work OK?

2. When I run the updater, should I also have MacOpener running or should it be disabled prior to doing the update?

I use that exact same firewire card, and I get transfer speeds of 6mbps... so it works fine.
