UPDATE FIRMWARE (1.2.6) on 20GB IPOD (WIN) -> Cant Lock
Hi,
I was trying to update the firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.2.6 , but when using the iPod Software 1.2.6 Updater and clicking on update it says : "Can't lock iPod. Please check if any other applications are using iPod and try again. "
This happens right after I started the computer, so there can't be any other application using the ipod.

this happened to me too....and although i got past this point...I can't tell you why exactly it decided to work.....suffice to say you have to be patient to get these things to work with windows.....try a reboot of the win machine and a reset of the ipod......re-install the 1.2.6 updater and re-run the restore.

I had the same problem, and disabling my antivirus software was all it took.
